That’s it then, the final episode of Series 3 has been released and with it, 4am CAB closes it’s doors on another series.
It’s been emotional. It’s also been a full on experience. This year Rachel took a back seat – I think she actually got out and ran off when I wasn’t looking – so I decided to carry on as a solo project. Not only did I take over compete control of everything, I also decided to release the episodes weekly rather that monthly. I have RSI from banging my head against the wall for making that choice.
Against all the odds, however, I did it. But, of course, I didn’t do it completely alone.
A very big thank you must first go out to all the writers who sent in their work for consideration. I had almost 200 sketches to read and from them I was able to choose 50 that had potential for series 3. I then gave individual feedback to all those writers and ended up with about 40 sketches which made it into the final cut of the six episode.
The next big thank you goes out to my brilliant company of actors. Chris, Anna, Will & Helen all signed up for more punishment while Ian was brought back after his debut in series 1. Finally, CJ was the bright eyed newbie. It was a pleasure to work with all of them, with wholeheartedly apologies for attempting to “act” myself.
The last thank you goes out to all the listeners of the show. Since we began just over two years ago, 4am CAB has attracted over 20,000 downloads. That is massive! Thank you so much. It really justifies the many, many hours spent pouring over my laptop writing, redrafting and then editing the show. Please, do keep spreading the word, we want more listeners and many more downloads.
And so, to the future. Who knows what we shall do next. There are rumblings of taking the show to a live arena (not literally) though we may need to change the name as we wouldn’t want people turning up at four in the morning and missing the show!
