So I’ve been busy. That’s why there’s a been a little gap between the last and this episode. Comedy in the Yurt is going really well and I’ve been plodding along doing a few gigs here and there. Two new venues this time, The Panda Rumble at The Duke of Hamilton and the first round heat of So You Think You’re Funny at the brilliant Backyard Comedy Club. I’m back.

The day has finally arrived, the day of my big ten minute gig. I’ve been working up to this moment for the last few months and I’m feeling bizarrely calm and happy. I was due to do a gig on Tuesday but I decided a better use of my time would be to work on the final script for the ten minutes. So we kick off with me, where else, but at a train station heading to another gig.

Episode 23 – 8 Days
Not that I’m counting or anything, BUT, after doing two gigs in a week again, it suddenly hits me that it’s only 8 days to go until the big show at The Luton Hat Factory (tickets here). I re-try out some new-ish material to see if I can get it to work well enough to include. Along the way I get thrown by a couple of hometown girls and a massive laugh from a very silly joke. Almost there, guys, almost there.

The gigs keep coming, almost made it to twenty (the episode number and gig count still catches me out every now and then). I try some new stuff out, written on the day, so I inevitably forget it, despite successfully running through it several times just before I go on. You know what, though? Not worried about that any more. These are free gigs, so they are as much for me to learn as they are to entertain the audience. Episode 19 – Love and Death
Still on a high after the success of the new material last week, I head out to try it all over again, this time with the minute I bottled out of the previous week reinserted. The venue this week is the lovely Hideaway Comedy Club, a place where only comedians seem to hang out. Guest appearance from the very funny Rachel Wheeley and a few shout outs to the “fans”… (vomit)
