Episode 66 – Gig One Hundred
Nailed it.

Big thanks to Sophie Henderson & Reverend Henry King (aka Joe Seville) for kindly allowing me to use excerpts of their set.  And a massive slap on the back to my Comedy brother, Phil Hawksworth for making my 100th (and Comedy in The Crown for that matter) an amazing experience.

Ep65 – New Stuff

Joking Around – One man’s journey into stand up comedy, from page to stage and beyond.

Episode 65 – New Stuff
It’s so hard to force yourself to try to do brand new material.  The set that I’ve been doing is entirely self contained and that’s great but it means if I want to try new ideas I can’t crowbar them into that set, I have to throw it all away and start from scratch.  That’s just what I do this time around.

Ep64 – Funny Feckers

4am CAB Presents…

Joking Around – One man’s journey into stand up comedy, from page to stage and beyond.

Episode 64 – Funny Feckers
Just how many new gigs are there out there, seriously?  I’ve been doing this crazy thing almost two years now and there are still heaps of places I’ve not played.  This time it’s a trip to a relaunched old night, one that wasn’t even running when I started.  Phil joins me as my brought bringee (!) and so, of course, we have a post gig chat.

Ep63 – Angel

4am CAB Presents…

Joking Around – One man’s journey into stand up comedy, from page to stage and beyond.

Episode 63 – Angel
The dream like trip to Edinburgh is a distant memory (it’s really not, it’s all I can think about!) and the gigs are coming thick and fast (not as fast as in Edinburgh).  I continue to improve my 7 Years set having done it to death in the Scottish capital (god I miss Edinburgh!) with a trip out to the always wonderful Freedom Fridge and my debut at Angel Comedy – I don’t care if it’s a spoiler, they both go really, really well!

Did I mention I miss Edinburgh?

Ep62 – Edfringe 2016 Part 2

4am CAB Presents…

Joking Around – One man’s journey into stand up comedy, from page to stage and beyond.

Episode 62 – Edfringe 2016 Part 2
The second half of a mega pod, it’s Edfringe 2016 Part 2.  I squeezed in five gigs in the last episode and there are a further four to be covered in this one.  Bloody hell, is Edinburgh the most beautiful city in the world?  I think so, but then I did drink a lot and have a great time.  Talking of drinking a lot, listen out for Rachel at the end of this episode, where we claim victory over Edfringe 2016 and even start plotting for the next one.  Warning, my voice was a bit broken by the very end.

Anyway, we did it!  Here is my Edfringe 2016, day two.

Ep61 – Edfringe 2016 Part 1

4am CAB Presents…

Joking Around – One man’s journey into stand up comedy, from page to stage and beyond.

Episode 61 – Edfringe 2016 Part 1
The build up to this has been a long time in the making, finally Edfringe 2016 is here.  This is not the first time I’ve been to the festival but it is the first time I’ve performed there.  Before all that though, I give myself the briefest of flavours of what is to come by doubling up on a Tuesday night (doing two gigs in one night).  Then it’s Scotland ahoy.

This episode was over double the length of even my longest one, so I’ve split it conveniently down the middle.  Here is Edfringe 2016, day one.

Ep60 – You can’t call the episode A Tale of Two Gigs again even though it really was a tale of two gigs and the title is too long now, people will get annoyed, sod them, it’s not really for them anyway

Well, the title says it all really.

Ep59 – Not Nottingham, Geezer & Pizza

4am CAB Presents…

Joking Around – One man’s journey into stand up comedy, from page to stage and beyond.

Episode 59 – Not Nottingham, Geezer & Pizza
With the family away for a few nights, I have free reign to do whatever I want.  I had thought I’d gig as much as possible but things didn’t quite work out that way.  First up is a bit of analysis on last weeks gig at the ever wonderful Freedom Fridge.  Then a missed opportunity to do a proper gig with a road trip to boot.  I then do a new gig in the East End for Memoirs of a Geezer before checking out another new night in a pizza restaurant. There’s a brief post script regarding Comedy in the Yurt and I even find a bit of time to ponder some new material.  By the way, I’m now up to 84 gigs, so I’m zeroing in on the magic one hundred – that should happen in Edinburgh, if I can notch up a few more before the end of August.
