The project was originally devised and created by Lee, who was looking for a creative outlet to produce a show without constraint. In other words, he wanted to make something a bit silly but that sounded really, really good. Lee began dabbling in the world of podcasting in 2005 with his worldwide hit Super Leeds United Podcast (seriously, he had emails from listeners in Australia, New Zealand, Norway and USA) charting the highs and the [incredible] lows of his beloved football team. He then moved onto an interview based what’s on programme for Hertfordshire where he now lives with his wife and two young children. The Freetime Podcast (catchy, eh?) then ventured onto proper radio and led to a short series on Lorna Milton’s show on BBC Three Counties Radio. It was, though, Lee’s background in writing, theatre and particularly in sound that led him to create the 4am CAB project. In 2014, Lee took over sole responsibility for 4am CAB and is now a nervous wreck. Not content with running the whole show, Lee then decided to try become a Stand Up Comedian, beginning a brand new audio diary podcast called, Joking Around. So far some people have laughed, which only fuels his crazy endeavour.
A founder member of 4am CAB, Rachel worked on Series 1 and Series 2. Rach was the first person to coin the phrase, which now lends its name to this nocturnal comedy podcast. Spending too many hours travelling to work for [ridiculous] early shifts not only inspired the name but also the theme for the project as well as sparking ideas for several sketches. Rachel is a proud resident of Tooting in South London and has a troupe of #jamfacedbrats to keep her busy and awake at 4am. She has written for BBC Radio 4’s Listen Against, News Quiz and 4 Extra’s Newsjack. Rachel also drinks a lot of #tea and can be found wanging on via twitter into the small hours and beyond. (Hence the overuse of #hashtags – Ed). In early 2015, Rachel followed Lee’s footsteps and did her first ever Stand Up gig – the question remains, would she jump off a cliff if Lee did it first?
